Whenever you can avoid washing a plate you are protecting the environment by using less manufactured soap, less chemically treated and electrically pumped water and less generated electricity running a dishwasher.
I avoid washing dishes whenever I can and these biodegradable plates can simply be rinsed and recycled. Rinsing off the left overs avoids insects from finding them in your house or in your trash bins near your house. And where there are insects there are other insects to eat them. In my neighborhood black widow, brown recluse, yellow jackets and cockroaches are the insect hunters. I have eliminated my in house child dangerous guests by simply rinsing the leftovers down the sink.
