Keeping Food Fresh Is The Simple Magic Of Moisture Control

Moisture control extends the life of all foods including meats, vegetables and particularly baked items.

The items in this collection are those I have used from 30+ years of preparing meals for eating later in the week.  

Controlling moisture is the key to keep foods fresh for days and in some instances weeks.

Controlling moisture is accomplished using a combination of sealed containers, moisture control pads, vacuum packing and freezing. The picture is from my kitchen with prepared food for the coming week. In the photo you see containers of sliced and  diced onions, sliced tomatoes, 4 containers of stew and one container of freshly shredded cheese which I infused with hickory smoke. The stew will simply be frozen. In the onion containers I have moisture pads while the cheese and tomatoes are simply be put into the refrigerator all for quick access during the week.

Preparing meals on the weekend allowed me to maximize time for homework, school projects, Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Girl Scout cookie sales, Boy Scouts, band practice, school fund raisers, after school activities, sleep overs, holidays and church.
