Older children have larger appetites and a more varied palette. Both the upper and lower plates are heated, and both can be used in the open position. In the closed position whatever is cooking will cook faster without splattering.
This small oven-style was a favorite of my kids as we were able to make brownies in about 12 minutes as this bakes from the top and bottom greatly speeding up cooking. With 3 kids getting food on the table was paramount to quickly moving to homework, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, band practice and after school activities.
Of course the kids could each choose their own favorite device such as the waffle maker or the bite maker.
